Reflection: Difficult Idea
One of the difficult ideas that have often been criticized by many, yet it is simple is the concept of natural selection and that it is part of evolution. In other words, comparative advantage is critical in ensuring survival (Krugman, 2002). The process of natural selection is also applicable to trade and economic issues whereby some countries will be at an advantage if they are better than other states. Just like natural selection, comparative advantage ideas are also grounded and are based on mathematical models. Krugman (2002) suggest that the opposition towards comparative advantage arises from C.P. Snows’ two cultures where humanists feel that they influence the economic developments of their territory. Yet, they also believe that aliens have invaded them who are skilled in computers and equations.
