Purpose
Research question – What impact has the greatest negative effect on the actions of the participants and why?
The changes in the weather patterns as spring approaches has a direct impact on the economic organization of Alaska. The railroad is important for the movement of goods from the south including Seward to the north. The crew members, heavy equipment operators, and conductors all play a critical role towards easing movement of the rain across the vast territory. As the water rushes during the spring period, the crew members have to work hard to repair any damage that may have occurred since the waterlogged ground is not good for the rail tracks. The failure to repair the rail track has a profound impact on the lives of Alaskans.
The residents of Alaska live in isolation, but are self-sufficient and adapted to the climate. There is a need to understand how the Alaska adapt to the environment where there are no other forms of reliable transportation available to people in the interior, while and seasonal changes in weather patterns affect the way they carry out their activities. The terrain of Alaska is not accessible by road, and the rail line is a lifeline to the Alaskans. Additionally, the rail line is a frontier development project that is maintained as the seasonal changes affect the flow and direction of water during spring. The rail is a transport link that helps to link economic development especially the movement of goods.
The common theme is for the railroad crew to get out everything that might obstruct the track. The trains carrying the freight should only pass when everything is clear, and while placing enormous pressure on the crew to hurry up without worsening the situation. Regardless of the weather the crew has to assemble all the heavy equipment while maintaining the track.  Nonetheless, the trains do not travel on a daily basis highlighting the dependence of Alaska residents on the train freight, since any missed journey might result in shortages in the most northern areas that are served by the south.
Description
The impact of the crew members is felt in various places across the state of Alaska. The people up north need assurance that they will get supplies even for the offgridders who have to rely on little supplies without access to the power grid. The importance of snowmobiles is most necessary for individuals, who rely on them all year round to facilitate the movement within areas of close proximities. Failure to repair and maintain the railway tracks would have a knock-on effect on the ability of the residents to live better.
The testimonials from the offgridder and the crew members highlight the difficulties of the Alaskan residents. The terrain affects the residents’ ability to conduct many of the economic activities in many areas of the state. The life of the offgridders is the most surprisingly, where they appear independent but still need the railway to survive. The track operators and conductors are tasked with maintaining the railroad each day, and it takes hard work and will to analyze any potential problems likely to arise and repair them immediately before trains depart from southern Alaska. It is man versus nature as the crew understand the importance of the railroad to the people of Alaska, in a state with beautiful sceneries but hard to reach areas.
Other than the offgridders and the crew people are the other people living in the frontiers and their perceptions of how their lives are affected by the railroad. The average person living in Alaska and depending on the railroad is no different from many others, but the reliance on the freight cargo means that there are few options left for the people in Alaska. Despite the sparse population, the average person is well acquainted with the others highlighting that the sense of community living influences their perceptions and relations with those closest to them. Even for those living in the isolated areas, there is a form of reliance on the work of crew members who ensure the safe passage of freight cargo. The crew members and train drivers rely on the railway directly while the passengers and those in need of the goods rely on it indirectly.
Scope
The attitudes, emotions and mindset that relates to perceptions can help explain the activities and thought patterns of the crewmember, residents and offgridd...
