A. Identify a Nursing Theory That Has Affected Your Goals and Values
The nursing theory that influences my goals and values in the process of my nursing practice is the interpersonal theory. This theory basically revolves around the relationship between a nurse and the patients (McCormack & McCance, 2016). It revolves around the aspects of orientation, identification, resolution, and exploitation. The theory expresses a nurturing force realized as the personality development through the therapeutic, educational and interpersonal process. Nurses are bound to establish interpersonal relations with patients in the case that there is an identified need or reason to do so.
1 Explain How Nurses Apply The Identified Theory From Part A To Implement Excellent Nursing Practices.
Application of the identified theory that basically involves the establishment of connections and bonds between the patients and the nurses are essential in improving the practice of the nurses and delivery of excellent results. This is by the fact that it will improve the level of trust that the patients have in the nurses. The improved level of trust is essentially fundamental in enabling the patients to be completely open with the nurses and explain to them even delicate situations and experiences (McCormack & McCance, 2016). The nurses consequently can determine the most appropriate courses of actions to assist the patients.

As a result, the patients can confide in me and offer me delicate and sensitive information regarding their medical histories. As a result, I can determine the best ways of handling the patients.
B. Identify the Contributions of Two Nursing Figures in the Nineteenth or Twentieth Centuries.
The two nursing figures that this paper identifies are Mary Eliza Mahoney and Florence Nightingale. Mary Eliza Mahoney was the first African American registered nurse. Her dedication was on providing quality service to all patients. She co-founded the National Association of Colored Graduate Nurses with later became the American Nursing Association to help other nurses of color get into the profession (Lacey et al. 2015). Florence Nightingale was mainly concerned with the aspect of the improvement of sanitation during the Crimean war (Sitzman, 2017). Her effort resulted in the training of more nurses and the formation of the army medical college and the Nightingale school and home for nurses.
1 Compare the Difference in Contributions Of The Two Historical Figures Identified From Part B
While both nurses worked on continuations that improved the nursing fields, the contributions of the two nurses are different with regards to the various areas that they were each seeking to improve. The focus of Mary Eliza Mahoney was mainly on improving the welfare of the nurses, specifically the colored nurses, hence her participation in the formation of the organization for nurses. For Florence Nightingale, her focus was on the improvement of the nature of the services offered by nurses to patients (Sitzman, 2017).
2 Discuss how the contributions of the two historical figures influence your professional nursing practice
The contributions of Mary Eliza Mahoney influence my professional nursing practice by the fact that through it there is the availability of institutions that are meant to regulate the operations of the nurses and uphold the rights of the nurses. Through the contributions of Florence Nightingale, the care of the patients has been improved, and more nurses trained to improve the welfare of the patients.
