This dates back to when I was twenty years old. I was visiting my mother since I lived with my father. During the evening hours, I went out for a walk. At twenty years old, I was a big guy with arms that looked longer than my body and with a confident set of shoulders. My dark skin made me look intimidating to the White community. That particular day I was wearing baggy ragged trousers with a black hoody. I will further discuss how I met a lady who perceived me as a thief because my dressing was associated with robbers who stole from her.
That evening I was jogging around when a lady dashed from an electronic store and started yelling "thief" and ran in my direction. I was flabbergasted and assumed she had the wrong target. This was short-lived as she grabbed me from behind and ordered me to go on my knees and raise my hand in the air. I told her I had not done anything wrong, but it fell on deaf ears. She started yelling that I had stolen her watch from the store as she pointed to the watch that I was wearing. At first, I was confused because I did not know what she was talking about.
