Air transportation has gained much relevance in today's world due to enhanced business and personal needs for people to travel for long distances. One emerging trend is the development of On-Demand Air transportation, which strives to provide air transportation service at customer request and convenience. From a business perspective, companies or organization have realized the need for optimized productivity and increasingly relying on on-demand air transport to save both time and money as a strategic move.
Since the deregulation of the airline industry in the United States, private owners as well as corporations have ventured into the business of on-demand air transport at a constant and highly increasing rate. One cannot deny noting that indeed, this model of air transportation saves time and money in addition to being comfortable, customized and suitable. To expand further, on-demand air transportation enables people to avoid congestion and cumbersome security checks at large airports opting to use smaller airports that are much close to desired destinations; this model also facilitate enhanced safety and flexibility.
This paper discusses two methods of On-demand Air transport wherein either a privately owned approach is used or the firm in charge is established as a separate corporation, which is outsourced to engage in on-demand air transport either on contractual or one-time and or regular basis. It is clear that the two methods outlined above differ in a number of ways, especially in regards to management, control, costs and aircraft in use.
For instance, corporations engaging in this business model as their sole and or main corporate function have to engage in highly complex and or developed fleet management initiatives. Their choice for aircraft is much different from the privately owned model. Even so, it is important to consider that both models are typically categorized as 'Small Aircraft Transportation System'.
