Introduction
Military ethics is a tool that aids in addressing some of the challenges that most populations never face. In as much as citizens may hold on to certain values and beliefs, the men and women serving have to put themselves in the frontline on those beliefs. As intense as war may result, there is a necessity of protecting human life (Arnold, & Hall, 2013). It is therefore essential to determine that the members of the military are always granted powers within them, a factor that makes them vulnerable to ethical dilemmas.
With their capacity to use violence in certain scenarios, the members of the military in some time commit felonies that go unpunished. This requires that factors are determined to consider when legal violence is tolerated (Arnold, & Hall, 2013). As determined in the Standards of Conduct, the military employees are provided with regulation on the standards of conduct and ethics. The violation of these punitive provisions by these staffs’ in relation to the standards of conduct and ethics may result in prosecution as determined and defined in the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ).
As a result of these violations by the civilian authorities, disciplinary measures have been put in place without any regards on the issues of criminal liability. In line with this, it is therefore critical to emphasize that the violation of these standards even in instances where violations may not constitute to criminal misconduct may subject a military official to administrative actions such as being granted a reprimand (Baumann, 2007). This paper therefore seeks to determine the ethical dilemmas experienced in a situation where civilians are utilized in the military in a combat role within a combat theatre.
Background Information
It is essential; to establish the fact that the current global; war on terror has presented the American military personnel with adverse challenges. None of these challenges are far much greater than the ethical dilemmas that soldiers face while undertaking measure to combat the element of terrorism (Baumann, 2007). It is upon this background that it is essential to clearly point out that fighting an enemy with no morals or principles may turn out to question our application of our morals.
Having been taxed with the powers to conduct military operations, civilians find challenges and conflicts into how right or wrong an action may be against how good or worse the repercussions of the actions may turn out to be, a factor that put our moral values to test. Sources have determined the fact that the United States Army are often faced with ethical challenges in their daily operations in their approaches of mitigating global terror (Costanzo, Gerrity, & Lykes, 2007). The first distinct are in which the military of the US has immensely faced challenges that have turned out to be ethical includes the area of torcher.
Several debates have been witnessed in the government in regard to the use of torture as a tool to aid the civilian personnel in determining the truth about a matter when interrogating terrorist (Costanzo et.al, 2007). However, facts have it that the isolation and prolonged deprivation of sleep as well as the inhuman treatment of terrorist is illegal under the Common Article three of the Conventions held in Geneva.
It is therefore essential to mention that several studies have determined that the civilian military personnel sometimes use torture as a requisite in interrogating and gathering intelligent information from criminals and terrorists (Majima, 2012). Due to this factor, it is essential to carry out a research study to determine the effectiveness of torcher and how it translates to an ethical dilemma in service. Several studies conducted in this area have failed to disclose the efficiency of torcher as a tool used by the military workers in getting fast hand information. This research paper therefore seeks to determine the weather torcher should be treated as an ethical issue.

Rationale
This research therefore seeks to determine the element of torture which has over time been used as an essential tool in the military to coerce critical information from terrorists be considered as an ethical dilemma (Majima, 2012). As determined in the standards of conduct, the military workforces are guided on the standards of conduct and ethics. With their capacity to use violence in certain scenarios, the members of the military in some time commit felonies that go unpunished. This requires that certain factors are determined with the aim of considering whether torture used by the military is an ethical dilemma.
Method and Design
This paper will first seek to determine the findings of false confessions and examine the results of these actions for torture-based interrogations. Additionally, the research will review the element of mental health and its consequences of torture for the perpetrators. Lastly, we shall explore the social-psychological conditions that have the capacity to promote acts of cruelty that may make this approach considered as an ethical dilemma and explore the arguments that justify the use of torture and if they should be considered as unethical.
In this case, my argument lies in the hypothesized benefits that have been experienced in the use of torture with these benefits weighed against the proven cost of torture. These costs in this case will therefore include the unreliable information that has been extracted from a perpetrator through the use of torture in interrogation, the loss of international credibility and stature and the risks of retaliation against the military personnel and how this may be viewed as an ethical dilemma.
The Purpose of the Study
