There is a great need to conduct community needs assessment so as to ascertain common problems that can be relapsed via legislation. This is because communities face different health issues depending on their day to day life practices and eating habits. Communities have also engaged in numerous community projects so as to improve their health and lifestyle in accordance to the objective of the Healthy People 2020. Nurses being as influential as politicians in the community, there is a need to identify a concern or problem in the community and help solve it via making its implementation a law (Tropman, 2005). This paper seeks to identify a problem in the community that has the capacity to be legislated.
The groups in our communities need to be enlightened on mechanisms to alleviate stigma and to handle such conditions that comes from having the condition. Those kind of needs have been singled out in the community due to premature deaths that result from lack of participation and involvement of the community, as well as community ignorance; however, there is no law in place to ensure implementation. Numerous chronic and terminal illnesses result from lifestyle diseases in the community. People both in the community and at school still suffer from ignorance of the causes of such diseases and end up dying at early ages. This calls for the need to educate community and promote health on possible prevention and causes of such diseases (Whitman, 2009).
The magnitude of diabetes and obesity resulting from eating habits and lifestyle is very huge and costly. Many people have passed away because of these diseases, and therefore there have been an intense community needs assessment to identify a proper community strategy and project to help alleviate the problem and ultimately achieve the Healthy People 2020Â objective.
