Public health is the science of preventing diseases, promoting life, and prolonging life through well-organized choices and informed choices of the society, public and private institutions, individuals and communities. Public health is concerned with issues of health based on the analysis of population health.
The department of health and human services (HHS) has the main objective as protecting the health of all citizens and providing other essential human services. HHS`s Medicare program is the largest health insurer covering about one in every four citizens. The department include more than 300 programs which include: health and social science research, preventing diseases, health information technology among many others.
