Deviant and Acceptable Acts Experience within Other Culture
After reviewing the Learning Resources for this week, respond to either Option A OR Option B:
Option A: Cultural Anthropology
Share a time when you first experienced a culture other than your own. Did you experience any behaviors in that culture that surprised you?
Did you experience or observe behaviors that might be considered deviant by your own cultural standards, but were perfectly acceptable in that culture? What standards did you use to judge if that other culture was practicing "deviant" acts?
Would you be able to participate in acceptable acts within this culture, even if they are not acceptable in your culture?

I experienced a different culture during a cultural show in my State when I met people from various regions of the world displaying various cultures. I loved a specific one elaborated by a Kenyan from the East African region of how they owned communal land and believed in the sanctity of animal meat. The demonstrator added that their culture allows people to take raw blood and beef every time they slaughter. Furthermore, they must serve their men first during feasts, then the young elders called Morans, and women then children last. This is somehow scary to me, and I worry about how effective it can be.
