Developing a Differentiational Lesson Plan
Reflecting on the two WIDA Focus on Differentiation Bulletins that you read, select a lesson plan that you have already completed or one you need to develop in your academic area. (You can develop the lesson from scratch or select one from a teacher edition, carefully vetted online resources or even a lesson that you have created before.) Be sure to provide proper citation for using any existing lesson or topic that is not original to you. You can determine the grade level and specific subject, but it should be current to what you teach. In this lesson you are building the lesson for a group of students inclusive of English Language Learners write out the lesson plan and include differentiated instruction for the different groups. The student(s) you are developing the lesson for come from a variety of socio-economic, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds. You can select one student from the student profiles you completed you can ask colleagues (s) to colete student profiles you may use in developing your enhanced lesson. Include a narrative to describe the students you are targeting and the expected outcome from your lesson.
Modify the lesson to meet the needs of your ELL students. Add modifications you made in BOLD. At the end of your lesson, write a short narrative as to why you selected these modifications.

Students will be split up into groups of 4 to figure out what is going on and bring the feedback to the teacher. Each student must hand in individual explanations.
The groups will be based on fast learners, ADHD Students, and English Language Learner group. The activity steps will be explained to the students at the start of the lessons as they are put into groups.
The Demonstration
The students will slice a potato and dip one slice into the saline solution and another in fresh water and weigh them after ten minutes. The one in the saline solution will be at a lesser mass than the one in the freshwater solution. The students should explain as best as they can why this happened.
