According to Oxford Learner’s Dictionaries, research refers to a systematic study of a specific subject that helps the researcher to discover new evidence, information, or facts about it (Oxford Learner’s Dictionaries, 2023). An individual can perform academic, medical, and scientific research.
Dong-Wook Song defines research as the process of using existing knowledge or creating new knowledge to generate new methodologies, understandings, and concepts (Song, 2021). On that note, the data is gathered, analyzed, and interpreted to meet the demands of the topic being studied. Song argues that research is simply linking things that have been done in the past to what is being done in the present or future.
Ary et al. (2018) define research as the physical process of collecting information through deductive and inductive reasoning (Ary et al., 2018). Deductive reasoning entails moving from general to specific knowledge while inductive reasoning is the opposite. The knowledge obtained can be used to prove a scientific or academic theory.
