No time in my life has been filled with uncertainty and fear like now. I do not know what holds for tomorrow and the future. The ambitious plans for the year are already in limbo. I am just trying to continue watering fragile hope for a better future. It is a sad affair; the lives of people and the economy are at stake. The adversity of the COVID-19 pandemic already burdens us; thousands of peoples have lost precious jobs, freedom of movement, and socialization has been curtailed.
I feel distraught and scared whenever I see peoples who are on ventilators feature on our television screens. It is frightening to see young and old fighting for their lives in hospital beds. It is inconceivable for me to imagine death, which could occur, my relatives, grandparents, and the vulnerable in society. The coronal virus, which originated from Wuhan in China, has left thousands dead in Italy, Britain, Spain, and other countries. The health care system is strained than never before. The burden of this disease has crippled healthcare infrastructure. The healthcare workforce is becoming scarce, the food is currently scanty, and social freedom is no longer our right.
The authorities have staged critical measures that are aimed at stopping and reducing the spread of the virus. People have been directed to combat the virus through sanitization, hand washing, and maintaining social distance. Stringent measures that have been put in place include quarantine, lockdowns, and enforced curfews; these are radical actions that have been taken in a bid to contain the spread of this infectious disease.
