The Mad Men Pitch Analysis Student’s Name Institution Course Instructor Date The Mad Men Pitch Analysis The ad pitches the sale of Playtex brassiere, which comes in black and white. Don Draper is in front of a panel of men and he speaks of the reasons that women are likely to purchase the brassiere. Through the explanation by Draper, it is evident that the actual customers of the brassiere are men. As he explains, women have feelings about the product because men have feelings about the same (Draper, 2016). To the women who purchase these clothes, they do so because of how they want to be seen by men. Therefore, the actual customers, who are also the target of the ad, are men. The notion proves that men dominate society to the extent that they determine what women wear. On the other hand, it presents women as individuals who cannot make decisions without the influence of men, showing how they remain subject to men on matters that involve their comfort and look. By analyzing the ad, this paper further presents the notions that existed about gender at the time that the film was acted. When it comes to the way that Playtex perceives its customers, the film shows that Playtex believes the actual consumer only cares about what others say and not about their preference for the product.
