Brainstorming to Identify a Problem

Essay Instructions:
A research problem focuses on a broader topic of interest initially and becomes more refined to fit the constraints of a single research study. Brainstorming is one strategy for narrowing the topic and formulating one’s thinking about the approach. In this assignment, you will brainstorm a list of questions to narrow your research topic and develop your research problem. You will design a visual representation using a decision tree, mind map, or other format of your choice to illustrate your decision-making process. Step 1. Analyze Locate two or more dissertations, one with a qualitative approach and one with a quantitative approach. Analyze the problem statements of each dissertation and observe how they connect with the research design, method, and questions for each study. Step 2. Brainstorm Using one of the dissertations as a model, brainstorm different problems of interest to you for a research study. Then, write your research problem. Based on the problem, brainstorm a list of questions to guide your thinking from this broad starting point to a narrower research problem. Step 3. Design Using the questions you brainstormed, create a visual representation of your reasoning process. This may take the form of a decision tree, a mind map, or another format of your choice. Step 4. Submit Upload a copy of the visual representation you design as your submission for this assignment. ______________________ from the client: I can do a decision tree or map myself I need the writing only
