The negative impacts of pollution and global warming have continued being severe as the years go by. Awareness of this and the subsequent need to curtail such impacts have become something of urgency rather than just a normal problem-solving agenda. This has brought about the concept of environmental planning as well as waste management. As the names suggest, these two are aimed at ensuring that there is a harmony between the people, their activities, and the environment that surrounds them.
Waste management is aimed at controlling and containing the toxic effluents from human activities. Cities and other urban centers are being planned based on sound environmental management practices. There are numerous examples of waste management and environmental planning cases all around the world. In Georgia, the local government is utilizing these two concepts to cut down on greenhouse gas emissions around landfills. This will go to other environmental factors such as the support of recycling efforts and closing down of other landfills. On a local level, the Georgian government will educate the public on sound environmental management practices.
