The first two structures mentioned in the paper show some significant weaknesses that are compromising to the strength of the DNA. With the one that was done by Pauling and Corey clearly as the article states salts are crucial when it comes to the x-ray diagrams. As such, with the reference to the free acids, this is rather digressing and unsatisfactory. In reference to the Van der Waals forces, it is also clear that they are too small and they tend to bring about some element compromise on the structure in question. The structure that was suggested by Fraser, also comes with some element of compromise and as mentioned in the article these are quite significant. The definition tends to be quite ill, especially considering the phosphates are on the outside and the bases on the inside with the hydrogen atoms joining the together bonds to form the structure.
