Name Instructor Course Date Report on Projects in the Faculty of Civil Engineering The following report is on three engineering projects in the faculty of civil engineering in Lawrence Technological University. The projects included in this report include Atwater Medical Facility, Highway Haven, and Sustainability is Elementary. Civil engineering students who were guided by various faculty advisors conducted the projects. Atwater Medical Facility Atwater Medical Facility is one of the projects conducted in the faculty of engineering. A student team by the name KGML Group designed the project in the year 2009. The faculty advisor was John Tocco. It is a 48, 000-square-foot medical office building located in Detroit, Michigan. The aim of this project was to provide a medical clinic, pharmacy, daycare, and rental office space to an underserved community. In order to attain Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, the students performed their engineering roles following a specific criteria set forth by U.S. Green Building Council. The building`s design is comprised of steel construction and composite floors, with a moment frame lateral system. The team adopted elements of Building Information Modeling to provide the effective and efficient review of the various design and construction components. Highway Haven This project was conducted in the year 2009. Student team High Top Civil Consultants (HTCC) designed the project. The faculty advisor was Elin Jensen. It is a unique project to Michigan in that the structure bridges over the freeway. The aim of the project was to allow access to facilities on both sides of freeway. As a result, it has increasing the potential number of people who visit the rest area. The HTCC team encountered several challenges while implementing the project. One of the project`s challenges was the location of the project.
