An offender working from the privacy of his home can take thousands of dollars from an unsuspecting victim with the swipe of his finger.

Consider the current status of cybercrime and the traits associated with cybercriminals. As opportunities for crime continue to expand with technology, how might traits expand, as well? In addition, deceitful, manipulative, sly, and unethical behaviors characterize cybercriminals who use them to exploit others in cyberspace (Kranenbarg et al., 2023). The psychopathy trait indicates that cybercriminals' traits are similar to those of individuals engaging in violent or anti-social behaviors. While the cybercriminal engages in situation activation over the computer, such as executing the technical and tedious procedures in anticipation of the potential for the victim to fall into the trap, violent criminal attacks physically and rarely takes situation activation measures (Kranenbarg et al., 2023).
