The daily decisions of police officers and the political culture of a community shape the style of law enforcement and probably the nature of departmental policy. The structure of the government determines the difference in the extent to which politics shape criminal justice agencies, particularly in policing. In retrospect, since most of them are elected in most states, prosecutors are affected by political consideration in a direct way (Padfield, 2006). The federal and state prosecutors often misuse their offices by making it a springboard for higher political office. Communication and transportation changes influence how the agencies perform their task since it creates completely new forms of criminality.
Demographic issues such as an augment of the proportions of crime-prone individuals augment the overall crime rate. Legal and illegal immigration develop new dares in justice administration. Changes of ecological needs such as industrial service and agrarian create new challenges for criminal justice. Researchers suggest that the dramatic change in culture or competing cultures develops new social conflicts (LaFave, et al. 2012). Lack of commitment to ethical behavior, demise of control and command and absence of teamwork are among organizational behaviors that alter the performance of criminal justice agencies.
Organizational behavior is the acquisition and application of skills and knowledge about how individuals, people and groups act in the organization. It defines the peoples-organization relationships in terms of the whole group, the whole person, whole organization as well as social system. Organizational systems of criminal justice can be defined in a divisional system (Padfield, 2006). It involves the creation of different departments or divisions, each with distinct service(s) to humanity. It is a structured way of an agency where each division or department is assigned to perform a certain function, which leads to a different outcome. Although the divisions may have contrasting objectives, such as policing and prosecution office, all divisions might share general functions including information technology (LaFave, et al. 2012).
Organizational behavior draws the responsibilities and obligations of each department and the holders of the office. On the other hand, organizational, system outlines the hierarchy of authority and defines the role of those that assumes such positions. The system requires that individuals who take those positions to behave in a certain manner and in accordance to the company’s code of ethics. Such ethics is part of organizational behavior because it defines the relationship of employees in the company (Padfield, 2006).
