As a starting point for prevention initiatives, the programs will use proven evidence-based educational approaches. School at all academic levels will be a primary focus. To prevent the early onset of gang involvement, students from the age of elementary school will participate in gang prevention and resistance programs that will enlighten them about the truth of gang life and the dangers it presents while also building the essential skills needed to make positive decisions, resolve conflicts without the use of violence, and strive towards a future that is entirely incompatible with gang culture (Banuelos, 2021). Similarly, these courses will be combined with after-school programming that provides supervision, a counseling connection, tutoring assistance, and pro-social extracurricular activities, providing students with a diverse set of influences and interests that help compensate for the needs that frequently lead to gang membership. Locally, the program will direct available funding to specific projects that will address the economic circumstances in our neighborhood, which can be a source of gang involvement. We will implement youth employment initiatives, offer job skills training classes, provide professional guidance services, conduct internships, and form business alliances. This will assist in building a bridge that will connect them to legal and susta...
