T-Mobile Company Compromised Wireless Network
T-Mobile Company is one of the companies that have recently had their wireless network compromised. It is the second largest telecommunications company in the United States, providing wireless voice, data, and messaging services to over 104 million customers. In August 2021, a cyber-attack on the company led to stealing names, social security information, driver’s licenses, PINS, phone numbers, and dates of birth of 7.8 million customers (Faircloth, Hartzell, Callahan & Bhunia, 2022, pp. 2-4). Forty million former and would-be customers had similar information stolen, with an additional five million postpaid customers also having their information stolen and listed for sale on the dark web (Faircloth et al., 2022, pp.4).
The attack was orchestrated by a 21year old John Binns, a US citizen, by compromising an unprotected router.
