Agile Software Development
Agile approaches have been at the forefront of contemporary software development owing to their focus on flexibility, teamwork, and progressive enhancement. “Agile Software Development: A Case Study of Web Application” by Vijaya Kumar and Sowmyavani (2012) and “Agile Software Development Methodologies: Survey of Surveys” by Al-Zewairi et al. (2017) are two contributions to this field. Whereas the case study highlights a real-life experience of the use of Extreme Programming (XP) and Scrum, the survey focuses on agile methodologies in general and their effectiveness.
Vijaya Kumar and Sowmyavani (2012) discuss the growth of a women's support web application through XP and Scrum. Whereas the project showed agile principles, there are a few ways that it could have been better. First, the dependency on XP user stories and Scrum sprint backlog was used to control requirements, yet the project would have been better served by using test-driven development (TDD) on a more organized approach. As much as it was mentioned about testing, it would have been better to ensure that tests were undertaken before any coding was carried out in order to enhance reliability and minimize late-stage defects.
The other problem is in the analysis of the project. According to the case study, XP finds it quite easy to recapture changes through splitting the stories (Vijaya Kumar & Sowmyavani, 2012). However, it fails to critically review the effects of scope creep or resource cons...
