Self-identity in American Indian tribes and the capacity to describe tribal membership has repeatedly been a touchy debate. American Indians, also Native American, Indian, or Indigenous American, are members of the Western Hemisphere. The group is one of the largest immigrant tribes in the USA. Unfortunately, the number of people who self-identify as American Indians is low, as most do not favor this move. Ethnic fraud and discrimination are two reasons that motivate many American Indians and other tribes not to favor self-identification.
Ethnic fraud is a common reason behind reluctance to self-identify as American Indian. Some people also do not favor self-identification as Native Americans to enjoy tangible advantages when they are neither legally, culturally or biologically native.
