Human Primates Reflection Paper
A critical reflection on the class materials and lecture notes reveals that humans are primates. The primate phylogeny points to the relationship between primate species over time and is based on genetic and morphologic evidence. Some of the derived traits that humans and primates share include flat nails, grasping hand and opposable big toes, forward facing eyes, bigger brain compared to body size, reduced number of premolars and incisors, and ability to bear a single offspring at a time. In this vein, it could be derived that human are primates as a significant share of these traits can also be found in other primates including chimpanzees and gorillas.
