World War II began when Germany (Nazis) attacked Poland in 1939. Initially, the German army seemed unstoppable. In 1940 the military occupied Denmark after conquering Norway. Moreover, the German forces raided Netherlands and Belgium, traversing the Meuse River, and attacked the French army at Sedan. In 1941, the Germans invaded the Soviet Union to acquire more territory that would enable the nation's race to expand. As a result, German surpassed various Western Europe countries during the first years of the war. Ultimately the Nazis were defeated in 1945 (Jiang, 2020). This paper discusses some factors that contributed to German losing the battle, such as leadership, war production, and military strategy.
Toward the end of 1943, most German military leaders feared defeat. The war persisted for 18 months because Hitler refused to admit their downfall and was ready to destroy the nation and half of Europe with himself instead of restating the submission of 1918(Jiang, 2020). The Nazi generals recommended withdrawal as a better progression when the Russian army conquered Mussolini and approached central Europe. However, Hitler maintained that troops continued with defense. As a result, the Allied nations apprehended killed and apprehended many soldiers, thus weakening the Germans. Hitler also replaced most of his generals because he did not trust them. When the situation worsened, Hitler hid, forsaking the nation he led. The great leader later committed suicide when he learned about the attack on Berlin (Pronay, 2021). Generally, Hitler's poor leadership approach escalated the defeat of the Germans.
