Background of Study
The study is instrumental in understanding the efficiency of activity to the well-being of a patient with diabetes. There is a growing need for the medical professions to develop interventions that will help a patient with diabetes, from medication to their exercise and eating habits (Miyauchi et al., 2016). The problem of the first study is how medical professions can use exercise to ensure patients with diabetes can live a healthy and fulfilling life. In the past years, the medical professions have been conducting further research in the field of diabetes. The number of people that are developing diabetes is increasing at a regular rate. More people are developing diabetes because of lifestyle choices. There are two types of diabetes (Johansen et al., 2017). Type 1 diabetis and type 2 diabetis. Type 1 diabetes is less common compared to type two diabetes. Type 1 diabetes takes place when the pancreas is destroyed. When there are issues with the pancreas, the beta cells that produce insulin are severely affected. Viruses are some of the most common parasites that affect the pancreas. There are also genetic issues that are related to the spread of type 1 diabetes. Some people are more prone to this type of diabetes than other individuals. There is a need to have more research that will pinpoint the exact cause of diabetes. There are also efforts by the medical professions to determine how they can reduce the impact of type 1 diabetes. The research is a result of the increase in the number of people with this condition. The research question for article 1 is,” Does intensive lifestyle help in maintaining glycemic control among patients with type 2 diabetes?” (Miyauchi et al., 2016) Type 2 diabetes is the most common type of illness affecting patients. The second article aims to understand the interventions that are needed in dealing with this type of diabetes. According to this study, more research needs to be done to determine whether lifestyle interventions can maintain glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes (Johansen et al., 2017). The research is significant to the nursing purpose because of the increase in the number of people affected by type 2 diabetes. Medical practitioners will be better positioned to cure patients if they know the best interventions for such patients. The current studies suggest that the most common causes of diabetes 2 are overweight, obesity, and physical inactivity. The research question in article 2 is “Is the use of activity level monitoring useful in exercise therapy? (Johansen et al., 2017).
