The IOM report indicates that nursing leaders and team members play a supportive role in the healthcare system. BSN-prepared nurses have the research and critical thinking skills to enhance efficient collaboration within the interdisciplinary medical care teams and uphold evidence-based practice, which is crucial for the scaled-up nursing responsibilities forecasted by IOM.
