Stages of Life and Interviews
The lifecycle of human beings occurs in five main stages: infancy, childhood, youth, adulthood, and old age (Kail & Cavanaugh, 2018). These stages impact individual interaction with the healthcare system and providers. During the transition from one stage to another, people interact with the healthcare system to improve their well-being. However, the frequency of interaction is based on the individual age. For example, older people are vulnerable to various health problems. This vulnerability means that they need healthcare more than the youth. However, individuals haunted by regrets and failures will likely encounter feelings of despair and resentment at this age (Orth et al., 2012). This is also the stage where parents rely on their children for a better life.
The above life stages have a significant impact on healthcare. The interviewee, Mr. J, who was recently hospitalized, stated that he had self-efficacy in interacting with the physicians regarding his conditions compared to his youth. When he was a youth, he felt hesitant about sharing his health problems with the providers. This shows that life stages affect the interaction quality with the clinicians, impacting care provision.
The interviewee also stated that his family supported him during his stay at the hospital. Family support provides the patient with mental strength that results ...
