It sought to educate healthcare professionals regarding the current state of infusion in a home setting. The seminar targeted nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers who participate involved in home care. As a nursing student specializing in this field, the activity broadened my understanding of the unique aspects of home-based infusion care. This was instrumental in opening my eyes regarding the challenges and opportunities in home infusion therapy. Problem Educate: The current state of home infusion therapy presents several challenges. Firstly, they may encounter communication barriers. When nurses in home infusion therapy attend to patients who do not speak English as their primary language, this limits the interaction with the patient and their family members. The inability to communicate hinders effective care., denying the patients the opportunity to get the attention they require (Kwame & Petrucka, 2021). Secondly, infusion nurses tend to attend to patients who are very ill or injured. Other times, the nurses attend to critically ill cancer patients. Interacting with such patients and their families tends to be emotionally taxing (Moghadam, Nasiri & Mahmoudirad, 2022). Thirdly, infusion nurses tend to work outside the traditional working hours. Like other healthcare professionals, these nurses are forced to work outside normal working hours to ensure patients get the care required. It is common to have infusion nurses scheduled to attend to their patients at night or on weekends and holidays to assist with surgeries and patient emergencies. Lastly, infusion nurses are exposed to risks like violence, musculoskeletal strain, and injury while attending to the patients at home (Markkanen, Galligan & Quinn, 2017).
