Review on Essentials in a Masters Education in Nursing Student’s Name Institutional Affiliation Review on Essentials in a Masters Education in Nursing AACN Essentials of Master’s Education in Nursing The American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s (AACN) Essentials of Master’s Education in Nursing has been an integral component of knowledge creation in this course. That is because it provided a range of essentials that are vital in effective use of nursing knowledge in various clinical settings. One of the most notable essentials of the course is Essential IV: Translating and Integrating Scholarship into Practice (AACN, 2011). Essential IV encourages nurse practitioners to incorporate evidence-based practice (EBP) into their work. EBP inputs are steered toward improving care. Through Essential IV, learners are offered a foundation based on which they can appraise research critically. An effective research appraisal helps to link the inputs of theoretical knowledge with the real-life clinical practice (Chetty et al., 2024). Nursing practitioners operate in two planes in which they have to fuse theoretical concepts with real-life applications, which can be challenging if executed without proper guidance. Essential IV has been a guiding tool in this integration in various ways. For instance, it is through this module that learners were introduced to various EBP implementation models. The Iowa model, for example, is a vital tool that provides learners with the grounds to analyze clinical problems. The Iowa model extends to support the practitioner in designing appropriate solutions stemming from research and evidence. There are more essentials whose inputs changed the trajectory of clinical practice to all the learners. Significant of such is Essential VIII: Clinical Prevention and Population Health for Improving Health. Essential VIII fosters disease prevention across diverse populations (AACN, 2011). Population health stays at the core of nursing practice. That is largely because it is cheaper and easier to prevent rather than cure health issues. Through Essential VIII, learners were introduced to various knowledge areas in population health that include social determinants of health (Huo et al., 2024). The course also explored other aspects such as population health management and strategies to reduce health disparities. The above topics are important in understanding healthcare and its influence on different population groups. To a practitioner, the knowledge in the above topics also steered a broader perspective on factors that...
