The responsibility of facility owners is to eradicate risks and ensure the facilities provide safety to both participants and observers (Moorman, 2020). They should provide emergency medical care on most occasions as and when deemed necessary. This paper reviews the Louisiana state statutes that address emergency medical protocols in sports facilities including the use of automated external defibrillators, the provision of emergency services at sporting events, and youth sports safety. Louisiana’s approach to emergency medical protocols in sports facilities tackles several key areas. The state has passed laws that promote the use of AEDs and protect from liability individuals who, in good faith, use such devices.
