The state has passed laws that promote the use of AEDs and protect from liability individuals who, in good faith, use such devices. Louisiana Revised Statute 40:1137.3, called the "Automated External Defibrillator; Public Access" does not mandate AEDs in any specific location, but rather encourages public access and extends civil immunity to all persons using an AED to provide emergency care (Louisiana State Legislature, 2024).
