Reasons for Pursuing MScN Author’s Name Institutional Affiliation Course Code and Name Professor’s Name Date Reasons for Pursuing MScN A Master of Science in Nursing (MScN) is a significant program that I am interested in pursuing. Indeed, it prepares registered nurses by advancing their knowledge and skills in research, scholarship, and education. Since I have been serving as a registered caregiver since 2023, I am looking forward to improving my knowledge, skills, and experience in research on pediatric mental health and proper nursing interventions. My primary focus will be on researching on family and patient’s relationship, such as Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), make a tool to assess family burnt-out for those with children who have committed self-harm for a long period, health insurance, or the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). The primary reason for pursuing an MScN is to help the pediatric population, who I think are vulnerable young individuals if not provided with relevant mental health services. I want to specialize in researching how to improve the mental health of foreign and indigenous children. For instance, studying about how children with ASD and BPD can be assisted together with their families, can significantly change how such young people relate to other family members. Besides, pursuing an MScN will enable me to gain advanced knowledge in clinical processes and principles that will help me to undertake evidence-based practice, which integrates holistic young patient management, assessment, evaluation, planning, and delivery of quality healthcare services. In reality, I like treating young people since I connect with them at various levels. For instance, I understand that families with mentally ill children suffer since they might not understand how to make such young people comfortable. However, I think it is possible to minimize such challenges and put smiles on the faces of children with mental health issues through the application of evidence-based practice. Although MScN is extensive, I would like to study how to perform evidence-based research, focusing on the pediatric population. Additionally, I will emphasize making a tool that can assess family burnt-out, especially those with children who have committed self-harm for an extended period. I think that this tool will be critical to help families with mentally challenged young people since they will get proper assistance based on the problems they are encountering. For example, after evaluating the stress levels of such families, a proper recommendation will be given, including referring them to family therapists.
