Public Health History and Core Functions Assignment
The origin of public health has its roots in ancient times. For instance, health protocols entailed quarantining leprosy patients in the middle ages. Early international measures to control diseases happened in the Middle East and Europe's national quarantines. Over time, the connection between the environment and disease was learned and refined. Starting in the 14th century, the plague epidemics accelerated efforts to enhance sanitation. Over the last 150 years, the enhancement of scientific knowledge concerning the source and disease control and surging acceptance of controlling disease as possible have been vital in shaping the public health system.

This theory purports that small organisms which invaded the body and attacked it were responsible for illnesses, and these germs spread from one to another via the infection process (Langley, 2022). Since its implications were dissimilar for centuries, germ theory revolutionized the theory and mechanism of practicing medicine and disease awareness. Besides, I have learned and applied disinfection, personal hygiene, and sterilization practices which all have a basis in germ theory. This theory has also inspired healthcare providers to develop antiseptics for fostering community well-being. Also, our local community has embraced techniques to reduce microbial contaminations of wounds, contributing to the decline in deaths.
Health departments, schools, community partners, and health programs incorporated a model that functioned as the public health service standard. The model subdivided the ten integral services into three core functions of public health: policy development, assessment, and assurance (Martin-Moreno et al., 2016). Assessment entails collecting and analyzing information concerning heal...
