Purpose
The Community Resource Project is focused on programs and services in your local community for the aging population; this can include national programs that are available in your local community as well. The purpose of this assignment is to (a) identify what resources exist and (b) share ways to engage with these resources.
To complete this assignment:
(a) Identify two local resources.
(b) Discuss what services each resource provides.
(c) Explain ways to support these organizations as community members.
The assignment deliverable is a 2-3-page written paper or a 5-minute video presentation.

As people age, they face various health and wellness issues affecting their quality of life. These issues include chronic diseases, physical limitations, and cognitive decline. Chronic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and heart disease are more common in older adults, and they can significantly impact their health and well-being (National Council on Aging, 2022). Physical limitations such as mobility, hearing loss, and vision impairment can also affect their daily activities, social interactions, and mental health. Additionally, cognitive decline, including dementia and Alzheimer's disease, can profoundly affect their ability to function independently (Alzheimer's Association, 2022).
In addition to physical health concerns, older adults face psychological and developmental issues. As they age, they may experience a loss of identity and purpose, feelings of isolation and loneliness, and increased anxiety and depression (National Institute on Aging, 2022). These psychological and developmental issues can be exacerbated by age-related changes, such as retirement, losing loved ones, and declining health (Social Security Administration, 2022). Addressing these issues and providing older adults with the necessary support to maintain their mental health and well-being is essential.
Social support and engagement can be crucial in addressing psychological and developmental issues in aging. Family and friends can provide emotional support and help prevent feelings of isolation and loneliness (Social Security Administration, 2022). Senior centers and community organizations can provide opportunities for socialization and engagement with peers and access to resources and activities that promote mental and physical health. Additionally, technology has become an increasingly important tool for social connection and access to resources for older adults. Online groups and forums can provide a sense of community, support, and access to information and resources.
Furthermore, economic factors can also impact the well-being of older adults. Labor force participation and retirement are essential issues to consider as individuals age. Older adults who continue to work may face age discrimination and barriers to employment opportunities (Social Security Administration, 2022). Retirement can also bring financial challenges and concerns about housing and healthcare costs. Access to affordable and appropriate housing, healthcare services, and resources are essential considerations for the aging population. Addressing these economic concerns can help promote financial security and overall well-bein...
