Preceptor Feedback, Student Feedback, and Own Reflection

Reflective analysis  Name: University: Course: Instructor: Date: Reflection is essential in supporting growth and development for a nurse educator. According to Sanchez et al (2021). He/she must come up with an effective lesson plan which requires constant improvement. This can be done by reviewing feedback from preceptors and students as the paper seeks to examine. The main focus of this paper is analyzing the preceptor and student feedback. The resulting analysis is to enable me to develop as a nurse educator. Description of the lesson plan feedback from your preceptor. The feedback I got from the preceptor Mary Resler MSN Ed. Bore positivity and negativities. My strengths were: Good engagement with students, the material presented was in line with the current educational practice for nursing school, she also topped up that I have a heart of a nursing instructor and with time will be a great instructor. She however noted points of concern that I had to look into and try to develop. She pointed out that my speech was hurried. She advised that I speak slower and try not to be nervous-she reminded me that my know-how was higher than the students. Lastly, she advised me to be more firm with the discipline/correction of students. This feedback if reflected upon, ensures that learning goals are attained. The content delivery will also increase in effectiveness as learners will understand what the nurse educator is discussing. Also, a sense of authority will make the learners keen and attentive to enable lesson goals and objectives to be attained to the maximum.  Description of the instructor feedback from your students. Students play a central role in ensuring their needs are catered for in the lesson plan, their feedback is therefore very essential for a nursing educator’s evaluation as they take part in the process of learning. Students also give first-hand information: A nurse educator can therefore get student feedback through observations, direct question responses, or reports. My feedback was however based mainly on observations and student engagement. In my observation, the students were actively engaged in learning. They practiced a sense of ownership and control. They openly shared their views during the lesson and were able to answer and ask questions. They also had a choice in their assignments, the classes voted for and against the ones they thought they could handle much better. The learners were also able to each give a short statement on what they thought about the subject matter. They gave feedback on a pleasant experience throughout the lesson.
