Nursing Practice Problem versus Medical Practice Problem
Both nursing and medical practice problems address the patient's problems. However, there are significant differences between the two. A nursing practice problem is usually identified when nurses perform patient assessments to determine the patient's condition (Curtis et al., 2017). Here, the nurse looks at the patient, family, or the entire community from a clinical angle and makes an individual judgment and their response to the potential or actual health issue. Therefore, a nursing practice problem forms a basis from which nurses can select suitable interventions to achieve the desired outcome (Curtis et al., 2017). Some of these problems include but are not limited to symptoms such as constipation, migraine, risk of illness, and pain. A nursing practice problem may consist of impaired ambulation, the risk for falls, or open wounds.
