Meeting Program Outcome 5
Learning this course helped me meet Program Outcome 5 by helping me maintain professionalism in handling patients. The course has built my competencies in advocating for positive health outcomes through compassionate, evidence-based, collaborative advanced nursing practice. Compassionate and collaborative practice requires caregivers from various professional and non-professional backgrounds to cooperate with patients and their families to provide care that considers the individuals' pain, distress, concerns, and suffering (Pfaff & Markaki, 2017). The course has instilled a sense of teamwork that allows me to embrace and practice collaborative and compassionate care. In other words, I have gained skills that make me an extraordinary nurse. The skills would help me critically analyze evidence and data to improve my nursing practice. I can also translate research and knowledge to improve patient health outcomes.
Program Outcome 5 emphasizes compassion, meaning the course has helped me understand how to alleviate pain and suffering through a compassionate presence. Throughout the course, I have explored evidence indicating that compassionate care leads to higher patient satisfaction, safer care, time and cost saving, better coping skills, and higher confidence among personnel (Dalvandi et al., 2019). Therefore, the course has given me all the necessary knowledge and skills to meet Program Outcome 5 and become an extraordinary nurse.
