Explain why a developmental assessment of children and adolescents is important
A development assessment of children and adolescents plays a significant role in their growth and development. A development assessment seeks to assess the various aspects related to the children's and adolescents' functioning, including components such as cognition, behavior, social interaction, sensory abilities, and adaptive skills, among others. One of the importance of the assessment is to identify any possible developmental problems. More so, the assessment plays an essential role in identifying a child's or adolescent's abilities and deficits. Development assessment also aids in establishing the appropriate interventions for children and adolescents with developmental deficits or social problems, respectively.
Describe two assessment instruments and explain why they are used for children and adolescents but not adults.
Assessing children and adolescents can be somewhat challenging compared to adults. As such, practitioners need to use various assessment instruments.
