The article by Pine (2019) focused on how data workers and clerks in healthcare work towards providing administrative data so that the quality of care can be improved. The article also addressed how the activities and practices of data workers affect the interoperability of healthcare information systems. This article is very helpful in improving my understanding of interoperability because of two reasons.
First, I understood that data coders and clerks are at the root of interoperability and their work sets the pace for the users of healthcare information systems. They are the ones who have to make judgments about the accuracy of the data provided by patients and their medical care providers (Pine, 2019).
