Organizational change can lead to moral distress, which can influence conflicts in the workplace. The changes experienced in the organization are likely to result to moral distress, given that the nurses were not consulted during the reorganization. The distress can be caused by the complexity of the environment, individual characteristics of the nurses, and the situation that causes the distress. The moral distress can be perceived in two forms. The first factors to consider are the initial dimension that alludes moral distress is experienced when a nurse is faced with interpersonal value conflict (Edmonson, 2010). It is characterized by episodes of frustration, anxiety, anger, and the lack of the capacity to act independently due to organizational constraints. Another factor to consider is the reactive moral distress, which nurses experience when they fail to manage the initial situation (Edmonson, 2010).
