Hypertension is also known as high blood pressure. As the name implies, it is a cardiovascular illness characterized by blood pressure above 130/80 mmHg. Hypertension may be caused by either a rise in the total cardiac output or an increase in peripheral resistance (Saxena et al., 2018). Burnier and Egan (2019) state that approximately one billion people globally have a hypertension diagnosis, with at least seventy million Americans seeking hypertension treatment.
