HIV is a global health problem that has killed more than 36.3 million people (WHO, 2021). It targets and weakens individuals’ defense systems exposing infected people to various diseases that folks with a healthy immune system can fight. Infected people gradually lose their immunity as the virus impairs the purpose of the immune cell. The most sophisticated level of HIV infection is AIDS which takes multiple years to grow if folks fail to get treatment. AIDS is established through the growth of specific cancers, diseases, or other acute, long-term medical symptoms. The infection has no cure yet. However, increased access to diagnosis, prevention, and care has made the infection manageable enabling infected folks to live a long and healthy life. In 2020, 1.5 million folks got infected with HIV, and 680,000 folks died from HIV-related issues (WHO, 2021). The disease is diagnosed using a rapid diagnostic test that provides its results after a short duration.
