Your report, and any citations used, must be in APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. Your progress report should cover the following:

Topic: Identify the topic that you have selected for your Senior Project and provide a brief explanation for why you have chosen to address this topic *This may be copied from the Week Two assignment if evaluated as Distinguished Performance. Otherwise, make adjustments per Week Two feedback.

Organization Specific Rationale: Provide a brief overview of the health care organization that you have selected for your Senior Project including a summary of the challenges and/or opportunities impacting the balance between health care costs, quality, and access to services that the organization is currently facing. The challenges and/or opportunities should directly relate to your rationale for why you have chosen your topic (i.e., training program) to help the organizational leaders manage this challenge/opportunity. Challenges and/or opportunities should be grounded in the research (e.g., web-based resources, electronic articles, or personal interviews). The more informed you are, the better prepared you will be to complete your Senior Project.

Training: Identify the audience for your training program and provide a brief outline of the topics it will address. Include a minimum of three to five learning outcomes that are targeted for your identified audience. Specifically, what do you want your audience to know and/or be able to do after they have completed training? How does this training program align with the overall challenges and/or opportunities that the organization is facing? Overall, how will the training program benefit the organization?

Senior Project Progress Report Name Institution Senior Project Progress Report Topic – Hiring and Retaining employees in the Healthcare Sector Hiring and recruitment in the healthcare sector is indeed a major issue. The truth is the quality of healthcare offered in hospitals directly coincides with the professionals who are hired. Therefore, hiring is indeed an important topic and this is not only in the healthcare sector but also in other organizations as well. However, while talking about hiring and its repercussions, one should also never ignore the issue regarding turnover rates. Well, while an organization could be good at hiring highly qualified professionals, they could also be good at losing them or bad at retaining them. When turnover rates are high in an organization, there is always a problem and one that must be taken care off by management or else an organization’s reputation could be torn. In the healthcare sector, it is crucial that hiring only lead to the best employees and that turnover rates are kept or maintained at the lowest levels. The life of a single person is important enough to warrant serious steps being taken to ensure that only the best are hired and retained. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital is one of the few hospitals which focuses on children and not all children but only those who suffer from catastrophic diseases. Founded in 1962, and located in Memphis, Tennessee, St. Jude has managed to help millions of children since its inception and continues to offer hope to others. Apparently, it costs about $1.8 to $2 million to run the hospital every day and this is mainly because of the many complex operations which are done there (O’Bryan, 2013). For example, it costs about $546,229 to treat one child who is suffering from acute lymphoblastic leukemia which is considered the most common childhood cancer. Considering other factors like physical therapy, radiotherapy, etc. the operating costs can and should be way above the $2 million. Additionally, looking at the research done in the hospital, it is indeed essential to note how crucial the hospital has become to the entire world. For example, Pui et al. (2009), via the facility discovered that “with effective risk-adjusted chemotherapy, prophylactic cranial radiation can be safely omitted” during the treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia in children. The above was indeed a major breakthrough and adds on to the idea that St. Jude’s is indeed a pillar in children’s lives. However, despite the good work the hospital has been doing, it is crucial to note that there can never lack cha...
