A health promotion model used to initiate behavioral changes
According to Vicki Simpson, there are three theories or models associated with health behavior change; hence; health belief, trans-theoretical, and socioecological models. The paper describes the latter model and how it is used to initiate behavior changes. The socioecological theory is a health promotional model which takes into account the inter-relationship between a person’s behavior and their immediate environment CITATION Sim15 \l 1033 (Simpson, 2015). Additionally, the approach addresses multi-dimensional aspects of behavior change by considering diverse factors which influence the process of behavior change. It entails identifying one’s interpersonal factors such as self-concept, beliefs, and knowledge. The program then determines a person’s interpersonal process, institutional factors, and community factors by describing the relationship between community forms, institutions, and organizations.
