The health care services costs had become too much and many citizens go without needed care. The growing inverse relationship between health care expenses and access to necessary services of health care system spurred an increasing discontent of a nation’s health care system. Virtually all developed nations have universal access to decent health care at a much lower cost, but health care cost in different nations are linked to particular health care system organization delivery and financing. It is extremely difficult to guarantee access to and control of health care and reforms have to realize that there is no perfect system since they have flaws. The right answer can be got through asking whether there are measures that can improve conditions substantially at a reasonable time. This is because different health care systems meet different needs and set different priorities and hence in doing so have advantages and disadvantages. The challenges presently facing health care systems are not unique since systems around the world are under pressure with respect to ageing population, increased medical costs, and reliance on expensive solutions and procedures. Thus, there is a need to balance between modern health care concerns of cost, access and quality. In addressing the shared concerns, this essay will examine three health care systems that consist of private health care, The Beveridge health care system, the Bismarck Model or social insurance program, in discovering ways that can be adopted in strengthening health care systems. The private health care system is where delivery of health care services follows the model of a capitalist society. Patients directly pay the doctors for services rendered resulting to increased number of health insurance systems. However, since many people are not able to afford cots for the high-tech services, they are not able to access health care services. The health insurance is available from private health companies where subscribers have to pay monthly premiums, and in return the insurance pays the doctor and hospital costs when they get sick. The level of the health insurance coverage is determined by the subscriber’s willingness to take risk because the higher the subscriber is willing to pay the less the insurance company will charge for insurance (Iglehart, 1992). This health care system has made citizens to bur their insurance cover or their employers, which is considered a benefit on to of the salary. Because this system has witnessed many people go without essential healthcare, some government have contributed to the health care programs to cover for the elderly and those who are extremely poor. The US has adapted this system where it has Medicare system provides health care services to people over the age of 65 and people with disabilities eligible for the plan (Iglehart, 1992). Medicaid health care applies for those who are poor to qualify for the program.
