The Formation of Urine
Urine is usually a waste released through renal filtration. The primary objective of the renal filtration system is to regulate the osmolarity of plasma and blood volume and enhance the removal of by-products through urine. Urine is formed in three steps, filtration, reabsorption, and secretion.
Glomerular Filtration
Glomerular is the first phase in the formation of urine. In this phase, solutes and water molecules through the capillary walls for filtration. Each glomerular filtration usually has nephrons which facilitate the process of filtration. As solutes and water are pushed through capillaries, they pass through the Bowman's capsule. Bowman capsule is a membrane that comprises endothelium and blood vessels. Notably, all other blood constituents pass through the glomerular capsule apart from proteins (Atherton, 2006).
