There are specific social determinants of health that apply to the ___ family. Therefore, it is important to identify these conditions to promote health and provide appropriate intervention and care, affecting other health outcomes such as health status, functional limitations, and life expectancy (Singu et al., 2020). The social determinants of health that apply to the __ family are health and health care, neighborhood and built environment, social and community context, education, and economic stability.
The family's access to quality health care promotes overall wellbeing. As mentioned previously, the family is scientifically inclined, meaning that they are very objective regarding their health. They are also very literate in health practices and beliefs, which is also demonstrated by how the family religiously abides with the COVID-19 protocols. Their access to health care is also good as they have a primary care physician and can get healthcare services such as a psychiatrist when necessary.
The neighborhood and environment of the family are also influential to their health status. They have options and access to healthy food such as milk, fruits, and vegetables while limiting junk food and unhealthy fat. The environment is safe, and it promotes healthy activities such as walking in the park or playing ball sports.
In terms of social and community context, a barrier to overall health and wellbeing that can be identified is the stress level from work and depression that the mother is experiencing, which affects other aspects of her life, such as when interacting with her children. However, a good thing about this is the presence of a psychiatrist and proper medication to enable the mother to deal with the issues healthily and objectively. In addition, bonding and playtime with the family also aid in promoting overall health and wellbeing.
Another social determinant that the family demonstrates is education by the way the childhood development and education of the children are given importance with the presence of a nanny whenever the parents cannot personally attend to their children's needs. In addition to this, the parents also try to limit the use of gadgets to prioritize their online classes while also being able to develop more skills that can be learned when the children are not addicted to gadgets.
Lastly, economic stability is a huge factor for the family, enabling them to have more options and access to opportunities to promote overall wellbeing and quality health. In addition, the family's food and housing are stable and conducive to health, in addition to different opportunities that each one has in choosing things such as outdoor sports activities, mode of transportation, and healthy food.
