EHR (electronic health record) refers to a digital version of the medical details of a patient (Cowie et al., 2017). This information contains all clinical administration data and may include radiography and medical reports, immunization, medical history, medications, progress notes, and health problems, among others. When transferring data from one product to another, facilities are bound to face specific challenges.
While doing this transfer of data, there is a significant challenge in the understanding of both the old and the new technology platforms (Sarkar, Khan & Pandey, 2017). On most occasions, institutions are in dire need of hands-on and experienced staff with adequate knowledge and understanding of the target and legacy systems. Additionally, there is a critical challenge regarding data condition, complexity, and size. Unlike in the past, when storages were relatively more expensive, the affordability of storage in the present time has motivated agencies to keep vast amounts of data, creating difficulties during their transfer from one product to another.
