The basic concept of continuous quality improvement in the nursing field is that nurses acquire knowledge, internalize it and use it in the various activities at the health facilities. The appropriate applications of the information are going to lead to development of new ways of handling different scenarios. The qualities of the services that are offered after the application of the knowledge acquired, are more economical, yield better results, use professional team's interaction and are also very systematic. In the end, there is the aspect of better patient outcome, higher patient and staff satisfaction, reduction in the number of errors and the processes at the medical facilities are more refined and improved. Proper communication skills and the application of professionalism in teamwork are at the heart of the continuous improvement and the patients' satisfaction (Methodist Health System, 2014).
Every other team at the medical institutions is specialized in their own and thus no single nurse is the same as the other. Most of the variations may be seen in language, field of study, culture and tradition among other aspects. It is quite difficult for one of the members to control the rest of the team. The best way is to have the entire team having a single goal with every single patient. As such, for the nurse leader, the goal would be to have the team inspired enough to make sure that they deliver effectively and efficiently as a team (Hall, Moore & Barnsteiner, 2008). For the team nurse leader, the core to the achievement of the objectives at hand relate to the ability of the leader to streamline all the team members to utilize effectively the allocated resources to deliver the best results continually. At the same time, the nurse leader is going to work on new policies and the procedures to be implemented at the institution as a baseline for the improved standards of work delivery. Other than that, the nurse leader may also work to challenge the various policies and procedures that are existent or newly introduced if they do not align with the ultimate goal of enhancing the patients' satisfaction and the continuous improvement of the services quality.
The nurse manager on the other hand will use a different approach to the goals at hand. The idea behind the role of the nurse managers is to purely manage the nurses, patients and the resources at hand. This means that, the nurse manager will approach the situation from the perspective of the resources available to complete the task dictated by the new goal. In that light, the nurse manager will ...
