There are two main approaches that a researcher would use in evaluating evidence in order to determine the credibility, accuracy and reliability of the evidence obtained and would also help in ensuring that the data follow already established criteria. The two different approaches that would be used in evidence evaluation are qualitative and quantitative research. It is keynoting that qualitative research is considered instrumental when evaluating evidence since the researcher can use sensory approaches such as listening, observing, and organizing data in specific patterns. Understanding peoples’ opinions make it possible for the researcher to comprehend the existing problem. Most importantly, qualitative research is crucial in different fields such as organizations and businesses because it helps the participants to express their views and perceptions regarding how the business has affected them. The different techniques through which this qualitative research may be conducted include interviews and observation among other methods.
Besides, unlike in quantitative research, the philosophy applied in qualitative research is that the researcher many not anticipate the reactions and responses that the participants are likely to offer before data is collected. It is critical to note that inability to anticipate reactions in qualitative research is critical because it may help in minimizing possible biasness from the researcher and this would promote the validity of the evidence obtained (Price, 2018). Most importantly, quantitative research helps the researcher not to obscure participants’ reactions but instead documents and embraces subjectivity thus letting participants’ feedback to guide the direction of the study.
